STEM, Get up to speed, magna, CBE+, careers, future, vision, investing in people, engineering, maths, science, technology, 2022

Next month CBE+ will be exhibiting at the high-profile ‘Get up to Speed with STEM’ Live Event, the region’s largest careers fair held at the Magna Science Adventure Centre on the 23rd March 2022.

This year, for the first time ever, the hybrid event will continue over a two-month period kicking off with a day of hands-on, exciting exhibits at Magna Science Adventure Centre in South Yorkshire, followed by two months of online activity via the STEM virtual platform that was built last year.

CBE+’s management team are committed to the next generation of engineers in the region and the company play an active role in ‘Get up to Speed’ each year. This will be the sixth year that CBE+ have been the headline sponsor.

Get up to Speed with STEM is the perfect opportunity to experience some of the UK’s most exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) inventions, to meet the people who design, build, and operate them, to speak to a host of businesses, inventors, apprentices, and education providers on the future of these industries, at this showcase event and all free of charge!

The event is led by The Work-wise Foundation, which aims to showcase STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related careers to young people and offers the opportunity for businesses from across the country to engage with the next generation and each other.

Attendees will learn what it’s really like to work in the STEM sector, through virtual company tours, live exhibitor demonstrations, ‘ask the expert’ Q&As, competitions, presentations and panel discussions from businesses, inventors, apprentices, and education providers within the industry.

Over the past ten years, Get up to Speed has attracted over 12,500 attendees, around 80% of whom were young people, families and teachers, and hundreds of companies from across Yorkshire.

Marie Cooper, CEO of CBE+ explains:

‘Supporting these events is more than just part of our corporate social responsibility – it’s something that’s very close to my heart. It’s about securing the future of manufacturing as well as helping to guide young people into real roles in which they can progress.’

‘So many young people don’t get exposure to the variety of industries and roles available and so they don’t know what’s out there! We’ve been attending events like this for the past 10 years and I have seen so many success stories as a result. It’s important for us to take a leading role in that.’

The event is a great opportunity for businesses to engage with young people, network and increase awareness on their work of work.

We hope to see you there!
