On Friday our CEO, Marie Cooper, spoke at the MIY Backing Britain event held at Outokumpu Stainless Steel in Sheffield, UK explaining exactly why CBE+ are invested in backing Britain and how they are tackling the challenges many organisations in the Country are currently facing.
She began, “I have spent over 20 years with a passionate commitment to manufacturing. I was born in Barnsley, I live in Sheffield and work in chesterfield. Trying to continually improve the industry in the area is something close to my heart.
The past five years I have spent heading up manufacturing in the Sheffield city region, but more recently becoming CEO of CBE+, a position I became responsible for after opportunities to acquire four business units over the last two years now. My advice to you is be careful what you wish for! “you might just get it….”
CBE+ is a specialist sub-contractor operating from modern, purpose-built facilities in Chesterfield specialising in CNC machining and turning, Electroless Nickel Plating, Gears & Artificial Lifting equipment and Laboratory services.
Marie continued “So, how are CBE+ backing Britain? Well, aside from working with Made in Yorkshire, Made in Sheffield and the Cutler’s company who all support and promote manufacturing in the region, we employ and develop local talent. Our aim is to enhance and promote business skills, capabilities and expertise in effect, showcasing the competences of not only CBE+, but those of its UK supply chain and local support functions that help us deliver our services.
We work with the local community, schools, colleges and councils to promote STEM careers. Throughout the year our ambassadors make contact with young individuals to make them aware of careers in the industry as well as alternative routes to higher education, such as apprenticeships. 2020 will be our fourth year as headline sponsors of Get Up To Speed (GUTS)”
GUTS is an event which aims to showcase STEM related careers to future workers and attracts more than 2000 people each year. CBE+ also support Work-Wise, the organisers of GUTS, year-round to promote engineering, manufacturing, technology and related sectors to support the development of children and young people so they have the knowledge, skills, aptitude and opportunities for employment.
To conclude, Marie stated “Most importantly at CBE+ we try to focus on having a positive outlook. Positive energy is infectious and helps promote motivation for us to work effectively together and achieve more.
To explain simply, how CBE+ are backing Britain I would say; We have supply chain solutions that are second to none. We are trusted for our expertise in world class design and technology.
