AUTOMATED ELECTROLESS NICKEL PLATING

CBE+ is installing and commissioning the first 6+1axis robotic electroless nickel plating line in the UK and Europe.

The new plating line is due to be commissioned in Early 2023.

  • The processing of parts with complex geometries that would normally be prone to air locking – this will be achieved using the range of axial movement available with the robot
  • Reducing the drag out and carry over of chemistry between stages in the plating process – the range of movement available with the robotic arm means that parts with cavities and features that contribute to chemistry being carried from one process tank to the next being can be moved and orientated to significantly reduce this.

Sustainability & Innovation

The plating tanks will be heated using waste heat produced through our Combined heat and power system. The automated plating line will also be linked to our effluent plant (water treatment) making it environmentally friendly. 

We have also been working with the MTC on the automation of our jigging process, which will compliment all our plating processes.
